Garden Photos For Foto Finish
This weeks topic for Foto Finish is gardens. These photos were taken about 18 months ago at the beginning of summer 2009.
My husband had recently made the raised vegetable gardens. The straggly hedge in the foreground was replaced with a fence last year to support tomatoes. One of my flower gardens is in the background in front of the swimming pool wall.
The beautiful girls are my oldest two granddaughters Tyla and Ella. The oldest one turns seven next weekend and the younger of the two will be five in August.

Queensland Birdlife
These are some of the birds we saw on our recent stay in Queensland.
The long billed bird is an Ibis and they are everywhere along the seafront.
The colourful little birds who visited us on our balcony one morning are Rainbow Lorikeets.
We have just returned from a week on the Gold Coast in Australia. We were there for a reunion with some of the people we travelled around Canada and Alaska with two years ago. We travelled with an Australian company and were the only two Kiwis among 44 Australians. Needless to say we very quickly became honorary Aussies for a few weeks. Twenty three of us met up on the Gold Coast for the reunion last weekend.

Fun and Games for Foto Finish
I have so many photos of the grandchildren at play that could have been used for this weeks Foto Finish "Fun and Games" it was hard to choose which images to use. These two photos were taken just over a year ago when the girls were staying with us for a couple of days at our holiday home. They were having great fun jumping the waves with their poppa.

NZ Native Wildlife For Foto Finish
The topic for Foto Finish this week is wildlife. This is a collage of a few of our native creatures. On the top row is the flightless Takahe and a Green Ghecko. On the bottom row is the Giant Weta and a Weka. All of these photos have been taken while I have been away on Women In Action trips.

Pink For Foto Finish
Just a few of the pink images I have taken over the last week. For the first time since posting photos on Foto Finish I
actually kept an eye out for subjects that would be relevant to this weeks topic.
The flowers photos were taken on Monday while out at Wilkinsons Castle at Waiiti with my mothers quilting group. This venue is not actually a castle but a fabulous old Chapman-Taylor house built around an internal courtyard. It is available for hire and the Inglewood quilters usually spend a day out there each year and invite other groups to join them. It was a lovely day and several of us took the opportunity to do a beach walk after lunch. Because I had such a great time with some lovely friendly quilters I have now decided to join their group although I am not sure how often I will be able to attend their regular quilting days which are held on two Mondays each month. I am not working this Monday so will make it to the next get together.
The other two images were taken at WOMAD on Sunday. I blogged about this event a few days ago with more photos included.

WOMAD
WOMAD (World of Music and Dance) comes to our city for three days and nights each year. People come from all over the country each year to attend this event and up until this year we had not made the effort to attend. We finally went along for several hours on Sunday afternoon and evening. What a wonderful event - we will definitely be back. Groups and individuals come from all over the world to perform.
We have a marvelous facility in our city called The Bowl of Brooklands. It is a natural ampitheatre with a lake in front of the stage. For this event the adjacent park areas are also used with five several stages being used for the acts.
