A finish and its new home

This quilt was made from several of my made pieces of fabric. I am quite addicted to sowing scrap pieces of fabric together to make another piece of fabric.

I decided that the colours in this quilt suit our holiday home.

Whitebaiting At Mokau

I chose the right couple of days to go and join my husband at our holiday home where he has spent the last few weeks fishing for this delicacy - whitebait. They are very small fish but taste delicious cooked in egg as an omelette.
The season has been very slow but over the last couple of days we have caught around 2.5 kilograms between us. There is approximately 1 kilo of whitebait in the stainless steel basin which I caught in one lift of my net. The little fellow on his own was trying to climb the side of the bucket.

Needless to say it was whitebait for dinner tonight. My daughter and her two girls joined us for dinner - the children love whitebait.

I look across the river from my stand at native bush. It is very restful and as we dont lift the nets very often I take magazines and books to read. Not too stressful a way to spend a few hours on a lovely day.

Foto Finish- Looking Up

For this weeks topic 'Looking Up' I decided to look back through some of my older images although I think this was taken about a year ago so not so old really. I like taking images looking up into tree foliage.

However I couldn't resist including another image from Bali. I think this one was taken pool side at the first hotel we stayed at in Legion.

Yellow For Foto Finish

I'm a little later than normal with this weeks foto finish image. Yesterday I helped drive a 16 seater bus to Hamilton - 3hrs away - for a Craft and Quilt Show. I had a quick look through the images I took yesterday but nothing stood out as fitting this weeks subject - Yellow. I did most of the driving as the other designated driver was unwell and not feeling up to doing much of the driving.

Last night I had two of the grand children stay over and I kept one of them here all day today as her mother and sister are unwell at the moment - heaps of bugs going around here with the change of seasons. I took her home a little while ago as I have to work tomorrow.

To cap things off our internet connection has been very slow all day and I have had trouble viewing photos on blogs so haven't checked out the other images yet. I hope this post works.

At the moment I am watching USA play Ireland in a Rugby World Cup game which is being held in our lovely city. The tournament kicked off on Friday evening in Auckland. We have 3 of the games in New Plymouth over the next few weeks. The excitement associated with this tournament being held in our country is absolutely fantastic.

GO THE MIGHTY ALL BLACKS!!!
