Mid Winter Quilt Retreat At Eco Inn

Earlier this week I spent one night and part of two days at a quilting retreat with members of our local quilt group. I dont have any photos of quilts that were being worked on but did get these gorgeous images while out for a walk on Wednesday after lunch. The first two images are of our beloved Mount Taranaki which was oh so close to where we were staying. The other photo is of clouds reflected in the nearby lake. I did a little bit of knitting and a little bit of hand work. I didn't take my sewing machine but was happy to just sit and relax and enjoy the company.

Block Lotto Finish And Another Win

I finally finished another block lotto quilt made from the modern clover blocks I won. This was my second win. The border looks very wrinkled in this photo but in real life it is fine. I have just had my fourth win since joining block lotto a couple of years ago. I have all these gorgeous bright wonky stars arriving in the mail at the moment from around the world. Thesae ar two of the blocks that I made. I cant wait for them all to arrive and then start playing with putting them together. However my third lot of blocks - scrappy trips around the world - are also waiting to be put together.

Scrap Attack Strings QAL - show and tell number 4

Last month I was lucky enough to win a gorgeous charm pack from http://sewlux.blogspot.co.nz/2012/05/scrap-attack-strings-qal-show-tell-4.html.
Thank you Chrissy.
This spurred me on to make a lot more of my string blocks.  I have completed 49 and sewn them all together.  I ran out of usable white fabric so decided this would be enough for me.  I am not sure what I will do with it next but have been fussy cutting the flowers that I have sitting on the flimsy.  I still have a few more to cut out.  I am thinking a nice floral border would look nice - perhaps a nice hawaiian print.

Foto Finish - Red

The red in this photo are red hot pokers flowers around the edge of Lake Mangamahoe.  This lake is about 10 minutes drive from our city and is more famous for an iconic image of our local Mount Taranaki which is taken from the other end of the lake.  There is a lovely hour long walk around this lake.

Foto Finish - Blooming Trees

This was the view while lying beside the pool at The Three Brothers Bungalows in Legian, Bali.  I dont know what the tropical tree is but it provided nice shade.

I am babysitting my two oldest granddaughters tonight.  Their mother (our daughter) gave birth last night to a gorgeous baby boy called Mason.  Mother and baby are doing really well.  The girls are talking to mother on the phone at the moment.  They cant wait to go home tomorrow and spend time with their new brother.

Scrap Attack Strings QAL -month 2 for me

I was a month late joining this QAL at http://sewlux.blogspot.co.nz/2012/04/scrap-attack-strings-qal-show-tell-3.html.

After making 5 more to day I now have a total of 20 which I am going to link to the above site.

These are so cheerful and bright - I hope to make more in the next month.
