Fun with Scraps

Where to from here? I have been having fun putting this together. It started out as a block for "Block Lotto" but as it did not have enough contrast between the background and star I decided to slash the block and insert the navy strips. This was a result of looking at posts on another fabulous site "15 Minutes of Play". I really love the concept of this group using your scraps to create something different by playing and trying out things you may not necessarily try with your better fabric. I decided to include some smaller variable stars in he next round of fabric. The fun part came with using scraps to create the next strip. I am loving the citrc colours and will have to decide where to go now with this quilt. It is around 55cm (21 1/2in) square at the moment.

Wonky Houses and a Magnolia from my Garden

Two of the nine wonky house blocks I have completed for this months Block Lotto.

I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of 30 more log cabin rose that I won in last months Block Lotto. Not sure how I am going to put them together yet - will wait until they all arrive and then play around with them for a bit until I decide. I am off to a craft show in Hamilton, NZ this weekend - hoping for some inspiration.

This is just one of the many magnificent magnolia blooms in my garden at the moment. Just love spring with the promise of summer to come. We have had a dreadfully wet winter and now a major earthquake in Christchurch in the South Island. Our thoughts are with all those suffering in Chrischurch and surrounding areas - may the aftershocks soon be over allowing you to return to some semblance of normal life.

On Saturday morning I led a group of 18 women on a walk around this beautiful lake. We were rewarded with this fabulous view of Mount Taranaki.

Mt Taranaki

What a glorious few days we have just had - it really feels as if summer is just around the corner. However it is meant to turn to rain again in a couple of days. These photos of our fabulous mountain were taken over the last couple of days. The first was taken from Mokau which is one hours drive north of New Plymouth where we live. We have a bach (holiday home) in this beautiful spot. The second photo was taken on the way home from Mokau.
