Pink For Foto Finish

Just a few of the pink images I have taken over the last week. For the first time since posting photos on Foto Finish I
actually kept an eye out for subjects that would be relevant to this weeks topic.

The flowers photos were taken on Monday while out at Wilkinsons Castle at Waiiti with my mothers quilting group. This venue is not actually a castle but a fabulous old Chapman-Taylor house built around an internal courtyard. It is available for hire and the Inglewood quilters usually spend a day out there each year and invite other groups to join them. It was a lovely day and several of us took the opportunity to do a beach walk after lunch. Because I had such a great time with some lovely friendly quilters I have now decided to join their group although I am not sure how often I will be able to attend their regular quilting days which are held on two Mondays each month. I am not working this Monday so will make it to the next get together.

The other two images were taken at WOMAD on Sunday. I blogged about this event a few days ago with more photos included.

WOMAD

WOMAD (World of Music and Dance) comes to our city for three days and nights each year. People come from all over the country each year to attend this event and up until this year we had not made the effort to attend. We finally went along for several hours on Sunday afternoon and evening. What a wonderful event - we will definitely be back. Groups and individuals come from all over the world to perform.
We have a marvelous facility in our city called The Bowl of Brooklands. It is a natural ampitheatre with a lake in front of the stage. For this event the adjacent park areas are also used with five several stages being used for the acts.

Spring For Foto Finish

This is a collage of flowers in my garden last spring. As we are just coming into autumn it will be about six months before I see these beauties again.

A smattering of snow

We had a wonderful day out fishing in our boat today - caught plenty of schnapper and gurnard - enough for all the family. Of course we had fresh fish for dinner tonight. This view of Mount Taranaki with the Kaitake Ranges in the foreground was taken from the boat. A few days ago we had a southerly come through which left quite a coat of snow on our mountain but we have since had a few lovely sunny autumn days and most of the snow has disappeared. It was much to early to have snow on the mountain - hopefully there is more good weather on the way and winter doesn't come too soon.

Stripes for Foto Finish

These images are of the Rewarewa Bridge over our local Waiwakaiho River. It is a recent addition to our beautiful coastal walkway.

This bridge was designed to represent a breaking wave.

Abseiling in Fossil Canyon with WIA

Wow it is almost 4 weeks since we did this activity. How time flies. We travelled in cars to Okau which is about 45 minutes north of New Plymouth.

After being kitted out in wetsuits, boots and helmets we made our way to the top of the waterfall we were to abseil down. Several of us could not resist a quick dip and slide down the rocks at the head of the waterfall. I opted to do the supposed easier of the two abseils. On reaching the bottom I dont think there was much difference between the two routes but it did help to get us all to the bottom quicker by having two ropes operating. Much fun was had by all frolicking in the water at the bottom of the waterfall.
We then walked down through the very picturesque waterway for quite a distance before having to negotiate a climb through another small creek back to where we had left our cars.

Doll Quilts

My two older granddaughters wanted something pretty for their dolls. After looking through some of my books they both decided that they wanted this angel bear. One wanted a brown bear and one wanted a yellow bear. I haven't progressed past stich in the ditch quilting so no all over quilting for these.
